Mullins Beach: Experience the Soul of the Platinum Coast

Where crystal-clear turquoise waters meet 300 years of Bajan history. Discover the ultimate destination for family relaxation, luxury lounging, and authentic Caribbean adventure in the heart of St. Peter.

A Legacy Carved in Coral & Rum

Mullins Beach is more than a shoreline; it is a landmark with roots stretching back to 1685. Named after the Mullins family, early English settlers, this stretch of sand has transitioned from a colonial outpost to a world-renowned destination.

It remains one of the most storied locations in the Parish of St. Peter, acting as a bridge between the island’s naval past and its luxurious present. During the 18th century and again during the 1920s US Prohibition, the secluded, calm waters of Mullins Bay served as a clandestine landing spot for rum runners.

The Anatomy of Perfection

What makes Mullins truly unique isn’t just the scenery; it’s the specific geography and ecology that defines this sanctuary.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

Geological Perfection

Situated on the leeward side of Barbadosโ€™ limestone core, Mullins is shielded from Atlantic swells, resulting in the signature “glass-like” water clarity. Learn more about the best conditions for your visit.

๐ŸŒฒ

Casuarina Canopy

Unlike palm-heavy beaches, Mullins is defined by a dense canopy of Casuarina trees. They offer a unique “whistling” sound and deep shade during peak UV hours (11 AM โ€“ 2 PM).

๐Ÿข

Hawksbill Sanctuary

Mullins is a critical nesting ground for the Critically Endangered Hawksbill sea turtle. Peak nesting occurs from May to October, a vital part of our beach activities ecosystem.

Location & Arrival Guide

Mullins Beach is situated on Highway 1 in the Parish of St. Peter, approximately 9 miles (15 km) north of Bridgetown and 2 miles (3 km) south of Speightstown. As a primary hub on the West Coast, it is easily accessible via private vehicle, taxi, or public transport.

  • ๐Ÿ“ Address: Highway 1, Roadview, St. Peter, Barbados.
  • ๐Ÿš— Parking: Utilize the government-managed public parking lot located directly across the road from the beach entrance. This lot is free of charge but typically reaches capacity by 10:30 AM during peak season.
  • ๐ŸšŒ Public Transport: Take any northbound bus (blue Transport Board or yellow ‘reggae’ bus) labeled for Speightstown. The bus stop is located at ‘Roadview,’ just steps from the sand.
  • ๐Ÿšฟ Facilities: The National Conservation Commission (NCC) maintains public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms adjacent to the parking area, open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
